Break data location into layers
Primary data in Turkey does not prove that backups, disaster recovery copies, logs and monitoring data are also there. Ask for storage and processing locations for each data type. Include subprocessors, management interfaces and support systems in the inventory. Compare location claims with the actual contractual service scope.
Measure latency rather than assuming it
Hosting closer to users may reduce latency in some scenarios, but results depend on internet routing, application design and external dependencies. Measure application response times from users' networks. If databases, identity providers or payment services are elsewhere, moving the web server alone may not produce the expected result.
Compare managed-service scope
Renting a server and buying a managed service have different operational scopes. Ask separately whether monitoring, maintenance, security rules, backups and incident response are included. Clarify how monthly charges change with resource use, data growth and additional tests. F2Cloud services define this scope through engineering discovery.
Migration and exit planning
Before migration, prepare dependencies, maintenance windows, final data synchronization and rollback. Define data export formats and deletion of copies at contract termination. Local hosting alone does not resolve KVKK obligations; legal and information security teams need to assess actual data flows together.
Pre-decision checklist
- Request written locations for primary data, backups and logs.
- Measure performance from user networks.
- Clarify migration and exit conditions.
