Discovery: understand the business first
The first step is understanding the workload, not selecting a product. Map applications, data volume, dependencies, downtime tolerance and existing operations together. Combine Backup, Recovery, DevOps, WebShield and Security according to need. Aim for a feasible architecture with clear boundaries rather than the same package for everyone.
Design: scope and ownership
Define resources, security layers, backup policies and recovery plans where needed. Separate F2-managed infrastructure from the customer's application and data responsibilities. Document the scope of maintenance, testing, reporting and incident communication. Verify technical targets against supported platforms and actual workloads.
Operations: protection and change
Monitoring, policy operations, maintenance and tests follow the selected service scope. Reflect application changes, data growth and new dependencies in the architecture. Running a backup job and verifying a usable restore are different tasks; this distinction is central to the operational approach.
Monthly service: transparent scope
Monthly proposals reflect capacity, workload counts, retention, security layers and test requirements. Do not assume one list price or the same SLA for every workload. The goal of the assessment is to clarify outcomes, conditions and ownership together.
Pre-decision checklist
- Share application and dependency inventories.
- Define operational ownership together.
- Document architecture and monthly service scope.
